Getting started
Welcome to KERYX
What KERYX is, its parts, who uses each one, and how a Sunday moves through them.
On this page
KERYX is one system for running a Sunday service — planning it during the week, presenting it live, and getting the stream and recording out the door. This page is the map before you dig into any one part.
What KERYX does
KERYX replaces running separate presentation software and streaming software side by side. One app owns worship-lyrics presentation (songs, scripture, slides, media) and live-stream production (camera, compositing, encoding, streaming, recording) at the same time, so the projector, the stream, and the recording are always showing the same current slide — there's no separate bridge between a lyrics program and a streaming program to keep in sync.
The parts of KERYX
Desktop app
The Mac app that runs on the machine connected to the projector, mixer, and camera. It has a few screens:
- Edit — the main operator screen during a service: the Service Order (what's coming up), the Slide Picker, and the Live Output preview, side by side.
- Services — where you pick, create, or duplicate a service before you open it.
- Media Library — imported images and video used as slide backgrounds and holding screens.
- Recordings and Trim & publish — recordings from past services, and trimming/exporting them.
- Settings — accounts, streaming, audio & camera, recording, publishing, slides & Bibles, and the companion server.
See Settings and Presenting for what each screen does.
Projector and stage outputs
The desktop app can open extra full-screen windows on any displays connected to the Mac: a Projector output for the congregation and a Stage monitor for the worship team, both driven from the same current-slide state as the Live Output preview. You assign which connected display is which from the Projector and Stage dropdowns in the Edit screen's toolbar. See Audio and camera and Presenting.
Web planner
keryx.samuraicode.ai is where a service gets built ahead of time — song sets, scripture, media, and the order they run in — from a browser, on any computer. It also holds the song library and (if connected) imports plans from Planning Center. See Web planning, Services, Songs, and Planning Center.
Phone companion
The desktop app can run a small companion server (PIN-protected, on your church Wi-Fi) that lets an iPad or phone edit the service and control slides remotely, without touching the operator's Mac. It's part of the desktop app, not a separate download. See Companion.
Cloud sync
The desktop app and the web planner share one set of services, songs, and media. Sign the desktop app into KERYX Cloud and whatever's planned on the web shows up on the Mac automatically (and vice versa) — usually within a minute. See Install and update.
Who uses which part
- Whoever plans the service works in the web planner during the week — building the song set, scripture, and media order without needing to be at the church.
- Whoever presents (the operator) runs the desktop app's Edit screen during the service — advancing slides, switching scenes, and watching the Live Output preview.
- Whoever handles sound and video sets up the audio input, camera, and streaming destination in Settings before the service, and keeps an eye on the stream status and recording during it.
One person can hold all three roles, or they can be split — nothing about KERYX requires a fixed number of people.
How a Sunday flows through KERYX
- During the week, the service gets planned on the web planner — songs, scripture, media, in order.
- On Sunday, the desktop app (signed into KERYX Cloud) already has that service, synced automatically.
- Displays, audio, and camera get connected and confirmed in Settings.
- During the service, the operator runs Edit mode, sending slides to the projector and stage, while the stream goes out and the recording runs.
- After the service, the recording is available to trim and publish.
